Location: Bushwhacker Brooklyn
Cider Notes: Tieton Cider Tasting. Tieton means raging river, and they have 500 acres of orchard with 48 different varieties of apples. It’s been owned by the same family since 1923. They now have a Cider Bar and processing center in Yakima that is 50,000 sf and offers tours. Jennie Dorsey was the pourer for the tasting.
Tieton Frost, 11% ABV. This is a dessert wine, made with Johnagold and banana apples. It’s a still cider, that is frozen to remove excess water from the apples, and is a Port Style cider.
Tieton Wind, 16% ABV. Distilled by Ellensberg Distillery, bourbon barrel aged for 1 year. This is very rich, and contains many layers of flavor. You can smell the higher alcohol content in the nose.
Tieton Holiday Cheer, 6.9% ABV. Cinnamon, cardamom, cloves used with apples. This is pale gold in color and a very Christmasy cider that is in the middle sweetness range.
Tieton Yakima Valley Dry Hopped Cider. Cascade Palisade hops, added post-fermentation. This is a pale gold in color.
Tieton Blend Dry Cider. Gold in color, made with cider-only apples, no dessert fruits. No sugar or water is added during the processing. This is the driest blend of cider Tieton makes. It’s made with English, French and colonial apples, with a mellow blend of flavors.
Woodchuck Hopsation, 5% ABV. Pale gold in color, without any noticeable scent. Very hoppy and semi-sweet cider that is very drinkable.
D’s Wicked Cider Baked Apple, 8.5% ABV, 16.9 oz bottle. Spiced hard apple cider that is on the very sweet side and tastes like an apple pie in a bottle.
